How To Convert Video For Your Google Android Phone for Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Using WinFF

Install winff.org third-party repositories to get the latest version of WinFF.

wget --quiet --output-document=- "http://winff.org/ubuntu/AAFE086A.gpg" | sudo apt-key add -

echo "deb http://winff.org/ubuntu lucid universe" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winff.list


Install the Medibuntu third-party reposity to get the non-crippled version of FFmpeg.

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/`lsb_release -cs`.list --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list && sudo apt-get -q update && sudo apt-get --yes -q --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get -q update

Then install FFmpeg and WinFF

sudo apt-get install ffmpeg libavcodec-extra-52 winff

Download the latest presets from here: http://code.google.com/p/winff/downloads/list. Extract file, rename to presets.xml and copy to /home/user/.winff/.

To uninstall:
sudo apt-get autoremove ffmpeg medibuntu-keyring winff && sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list && sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winff.list && sudo apt-get update
